McNeal comes to Tempe after spending one season at Texas Christian as an Assistant Coach for the beach volleyball program while simultaneously serving as the Director of Operations for the Indoor Volleyball team. McNeal will hold a similar title with the Sun Devils, as the Director of Operations for the indoor volleyball program.
"I would like to thank coach Tomasevic for this wonderful opportunity in being a part of the Sun Devil volleyball program.," said McNeal. " I am excited to begin working side by side with Sanja and the coaching staff as well as building ASU into a top team nationally and in the Pac-12."
McNeal previously spent a year as a volunteer assistant coach at Wake Forest. Before McNeal began coaching, she played professionally for a year in Bolozano, Italy, with Naruda Volley. Additionally, she also was a member of the 2013 U-23 Women's National Team that finished fourth at the Inaugural 2013 U-23 World Championships in Mexico.
A four-year member of the University of Texas volleyball program, McNeal was a part of the 2012 team that won the NCAA Championship after sweeping Oregon in the finals. While at Texas, the Longhorns made three Final Four appearances in her four years. A leader on and off the court, McNeal was named a captain before her senior season in Austin.
McNeal was recognized as one of the best collegiate volleyball players, garnering several prominent accolades after her final season at Texas. A dominant senior season culminated in 2012 AVCA All-Central Region honors. Additionally, McNeal was named to 2012 NCAA Volleyball All-Tournament Team after the Longhorns claimed their second National Championship in school history. She was also named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team after an outstanding opening weekend at the Austin Regional. McNeal also excelled in the classroom, earning 2010 Academic All-Big 12 second team honors. McNeal graduated from Texas in 2013 with a degree in applied learning and development with a minor in communication.
Coming out of high school, the San Diego, Calif. native was the No. 5 rated recruit in the nation according to Prep Volleyball in 2009. She was listed as one of the Fab 50 Selections in Volleyball Magazine. McNeal was selected as a Under Armour High School All-America, a prestigious honor recognizing the elite high school talent throughout the country. McNeal was a member of the United States Junior National Team that captured a gold medal at the 2008 NORCECA Women's Continental Championship in Saltillo, Mexico.
