FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – On the final day of the 2018 NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, an additional Sun Devils qualified for NCAA's while one finished a sweep, adding their third event of the competition to their NCAA repertoire.
Back-to-back women's Pac-12 champion in the platform dive Mara Aiacoboae finished fourth in the finals of the event to qualify for another NCAA Championship appearance next week.
On the men's side, both Youssef Selim and Heikki Makikallio advanced from the earlier prelims to the evening finals. Selim, with a sixth place finish, added his third event in as many opportunities to his NCAA schedule in two weeks. Makikallio finished just outside the top seven necessary to qualify in eighth place.
Over the previous two days, Frida Kaellgren, Ashley McCool and Youssef Selim also qualified for both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive, with Selim winning the men's 1-meter dive, which he also won a Pac-12 Championship in two weeks ago.
The NCAA Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships take place over the next two weeks, with the women up first next week (Mar. 14-17) in Columbus, Ohio before the men take the stage the following week (Mar. 21-24) in Minneapolis, Minn.
