TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 6 and reigning national champion Sun Devil women's golf is headed East for a return trip to the seventh-annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (Mar. 2-4) at Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Arizona State will be in good company amongst 10 teams ranked in Golfstat's top-25 out of the field of 18 teams (including six top-10 teams). The No. 6 Sun Devils will be joined by No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 5 Duke, host-No. 8 South Carolina, No. 9 Furman, No. 13 Northwestern, No. 14 Oklahoma State, No. 20 Virginia, No. 23 Wake Forest, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.
The field will play 18 holes each of the three days with rounds one and two beginning Friday, Mar. 2 and Saturday, Mar. 3 at 8:30 am ET/6:30 am MT. The third round will begin a half hour earlier, at 8:00 am ET/6:00 am MT on Sunday, Mar. 4.
Alabama (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017) and Duke (2014, 2015) have combined to win the title in the first six years of the tournament.
Last season, the Sun Devils finished third during a streak in which they earned six-straight top-three finishes. The third-place finish was their best at the tournament as a team, competing in four of six years (2013-15, 2017).
Individually, Noemi Jimenez won the tournament in 2013 while Dani Ordonez finished in the top five (T4th). Jimenez also posted top-five finishes the next two seasons (T3 in 2014, T5 in 2015).
