DELAND, Fla. – The Arizona State women's lacrosse team (2-0) remains undefeated on the season and in program history, picking up their second consecutive victory over the Stetson Hatters, 15-13, Sunday afternoon at the Athletic Training Center.

"We saw the girls getting comfortable on the field which is always good," noted head coach Courtney Martinez Connor. "We're teaching the players to be creative: We had our first behind-the-back connection to a goal (Emily Glagolev to Graci Fulkerson) which was great so there were definitely bright spots and there's always things you learn from. We're certainly proud that they were able to walk away and start the season with a winning record but we're not going to stop there."

The Sun Devils came out in full force, scoring a program record 11 goals in the first half. The team netted five consecutive goals for an early 5-0 lead, with a hat trick from freshman attacker Graci Fulkerson. Freshman attacker Taylor Carson also recorded the first goal of her career.

The Sun Devils went on another huge run in the first half thanks to junior Kerri Clayton's three goals to gain the eight goal, 11-3, lead heading into halftime. The six goal run is a program record in the inaugural season.

Sophomore Carley Adams also scored back-to-back in the aforementioned scoring run to record the first goals of her career.

The young team struggled a bit in the second half, but goalkeepers Berkeley Bonneau and Sophia Thomas combined for eight saves to keep the Hatters back.

"We're going to come away from this win with a lot to learn," said Martinez Connor. "It certainly gives us a lot of great experience like how to battle adversity on the field and how to handle difficult situations that will be thrown at us. Fortunate for us a win is a win. We just have to learn how to complete a game and compete for 60 minutes all the time because we won't always be as lucky and be able to come out with a W."

Bonneau recorded a career high seven ground balls. Freshman Maddy Hunter also built on her previous program record of five draw controls in a single game with six this afternoon. Fellow freshman midfielder Erin Dibernardo won a career high five draws herself.

"I was impressed with the play of [goalkeeper] Sophia Thomas who was able to come in and make some end-of-the-game saves when Stetson was on a 6-0 run and we were struggling on the offensive end. If we can play the second half like how we began the first half we'll be a lot more successful."

Clayton added an additional two goals in the second half as did Hunter.

Up next, the Sun Devils look to build on their winning streak as they remain on the road but head back to the West Coast. ASU will battle the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. MST.
