TEMPE -- Perfect Game announced its preseason All-Pac-12 predictions, featuring two members of the Sun Devil Baseball program making the cut.

Junior outfielder Gage Canning was tabbed as an All-Pac-12 First-Team selection, while newcomer infielder Drew Swift was pegged as the preseason Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

"Canning should be the most productive player in this (ASU) lineup and he has bigger tools than his size would lead one to believe," according to Perfect Game.

Canning, an All-Pac-12 First-Team selection last season, finished his sophomore campaign leading the Devils in almost every offensive category including batting average (.332), runs scored (37), doubles (12), triples (8) and home runs (6). His eight triples were also good for the second-best mark in the country.

Canning was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week once last year after an impressive stint against UNLV and Washington State, when racked up six hits, five runs scored, a home run and five RBIs over four games.

He also notched a career weekend over a three-game stretch against Cal State Bakersfield last April, totaling 10 hits, three runs, two triples, a home run and four RBIs.

Along with Canning, Perfect Game predicts that Swift will be Arizona State's starting shortstop and an "impact player" this season. Coming out of high school, Perfect Game ranked Swift as the No. 13 overall player in Arizona, as well as the No. 4 shortstop in the state.

Swift, who attended Hamilton High School in Chandler, racked up impressive numbers over his four-year varsity career. He posted a .355 batting average with 118 hits and 107 runs in 102 varsity games.

In addition to starting at shortstop, Swift also served as the team's closer, recording 10 career saves with a 2.89 ERA in 26 appearances totaling 36.1 innings. He was an integral part of Hamilton's 2016 AIA DI Championship team that finished ranked No. 18 nationally.

Fans will be able to get their first look at Canning, Swift and the rest of the squad on Saturday, Feb. 10, when the team hosts its open house and scrimmage at Phoenix Municipal Stadium at 11 a.m.

The Sun Devils then hit the field for their season opener on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m., with the first of a four-game home series against Miami (Ohio) at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
