TEMPE, Ariz. -- Second-year head coach Brad Keenan and the Arizona State beach volleyball squad have announced their 2018 slate. The Sand Devils are set to host six matches at their home venue — the PERA Club — as well as hit the road for more than 10 away matches.
Before the official season kicks off, fans will have their first opportunity to check out the 2018 team as the Sand Devils host their annual Maroon and Gold Scrimmage, which is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. MST. The event will be open to the general public free of charge.
The Sun Devil Challenge marks the official start of the 2018 campaign, which begins on Feb. 24 with a match against reigning national champion USC at 6 p.m., at the PERA Club in Tempe. ASU then has a doubleheader on Feb. 25, facing Nebraska at 11 a.m., and Cal Poly at 3 p.m.
On March 3-4, the Sand Devils will compete in the TCU Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, taking on Cal Poly, Tulane and TCU.
ASU then heads to Stanford, Calif., a week later for the Stanford Tournament, and will face California on March 9 at 3:30 p.m., and host Stanford on March 10 at 3:30 p.m.
The Pac-12 South Invitational begins on March 24 in Santa Monica, Calif., and ASU will face UCLA, USC, Stanford and Washington over the course of the two-day tourney.
On March 30-31, the Sand Devils will be in Albuquerque, NM, to compete in the New Mexico Tournament.
The team then heads to Tucson, Ariz., on April 6 for a tripleheader in the Arizona Tournament. ASU faces California at 1 p.m., Colorado Mesa at 4 p.m., and Arizona at 6 p.m.
Keenan's squad then returns home the following day for a doubleheader on April 7, matching up with Stetson at 3 p.m., and Vanguard at 7 p.m.
Next up for the Sand Devils is a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, to take part in the Hawaii Tournament beginning on April 14. ASU concludes the 2018 regular season with a home match against the Arizona Wildcats on April 18 at 6 p.m.
The postseason begins on April 26 with the Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championships in Stanford, Calif. The tourney is set to be held over a three-day span. The 2018 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships follow, beginning on May 4 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
