TEMPE -- The Sun Devils continue a lengthy homestand with a two-game midweek set against No. 7 Cal State Fullerton this week at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, carrying on a streak of 11 home games in an 18-day span in the month of March. The Devils have not played 11 games in the month before March 20 since the 2013 season. The two-game series will get underway Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. MT with Wednesday's contest following at the exact same time.

Scouting the Titans

After claiming their 21st Big West Conference title a year ago and their sixth in the last seven years, the Titans are the favorites to do it again in 2017, as Cal State Fullerton has been picked as the team to beat in the Big West Conference, according to the nine league coaches that voted on the Big West baseball preseason poll.
For the Titans, it'll be a good mix of returners and newcomers that should make up a team worthy of its top-10 preseason ranking. Fullerton welcomes back 21 letterwinners from a year ago, including four all-conference performers from 2016 in sophomore Colton Eastman (RHP), senior Timmy Richards (INF), junior Connor Seabold (RHP) and junior John Gavin (LHP).
The Titans will also be under the leadership of four-time Big West Coach of the Year Rick Vanderhook, who enters his sixth season as head coach.
The returners will be joined by a recruiting class that ranked 21st in the nation according to Collegiate Baseball, which includes six pitchers, four infielders, one outfielder and one catcher.
The Titans entered the 2017 season ranked in every national preseason poll, with Baseball America awarding Cal State Fullerton with the highest ranking of eighth. This is the Titans' highest placing in the poll since being ranked No. 1 in the 2014 preseason poll.

Devils vs. Fullerton/Big West

The Devils are no strangers to fellow West Coast juggernaut Cal State Fullerton, having squared off against the Titans 63 times in history and owning a 33-30 series advantage.
After this weekend, the two teams will have seen each other in nine of the last 10 seasons with Fullerton entering those contests ranked in the Top 25 eight times and ranked in the Top 10 three times, including this season.
ASU took two games against the Titans last season, a year removed from being eliminated from the 2015 postseason by CSUF in Fullerton.
The Devils have habitually had an exceptional track record against the Big West, holding a 213-97 all-time record against opponents currently in the conference and not having a losing record against any of the nine teams in the league.
