MALIBU, CALIF. – The Sun Devils improved to 6-4 on the 2017 campaign with a 5-0 sweep of Cal State Los Angeles at the Zuma Classic in Malibu, Calif. on Saturday.
 
Arizona State concluded the three-match outing with a 1-2 record, dropping duals with No. 2 Pepperdine (5-0) and Texas-Christian University.
 
The Sun Devils opened the tournament with a loss to Texas-Christian University despite winning the first two pairs. The senior duo of Bianca Arellano and Whitney Follete garnered a point for the Sun Devils with consecutive straight set 21-13 victories. Oluoma Okaro and Madison Berridge continued their hot streak earning their seventh consecutive match win.

ASU's second match of the day ended with a 5-0 loss to Pepperdine. Arellano and Follete were able to keep the contest close, as they dropped their sets 21-19 and 21-18. Sage Patchell and Mia Rivera also managed to have a competitive matchup, as they fell two sets to one, 21-17, 21-18 and 15-13.

The Sun Devils were able to find their stride in the last match as they were able to take all five duals from Cal State-Los Angeles. Both the Oluoma Okaro/Madison Berridge and Cassidy Pickrell/Katelyn Carballo pairings shined as they defeated the Golden Eagles in straight sets with a score of 21-8 and 21-10 for both pairs.
