SEATTLE, Wash. – The Sun Devils travel back to the Valley with two Territorial Cup® points secured during the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Conference Championships on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the University of Washington.

Both the men's and women's teams pushed ahead to beat the University of Arizona, claiming the two Territorial Cup® points that were up for grabs and cutting the 2016-17 season deficit to just half a point. The women finished sixth overall with 45 points -- 16 ahead of UA – while the men picked up a fifth place overall finish with 53 points -- an 11 point advantage over the Wildcats.

"It's always good when you sweep your rival and get the two Territorial Cup® points," head coach Greg Kraft said. "That puts us up 3-1 in our ledger."

Strong performances and a hefty amount of personal bests combined to give the Sun Devils the advantage.

Senior jumper Keyasia Tibbs championed the women's triple jump event with a leap of 13.16m (43-2.25) – a new personal and ASU record -- against 23 other competitors. The first-place finish becomes her second MPSF triple jump victory, as she also captured the indoor title her freshman season in 2015.

The men's 4x400 meter relay also placed first overall to finish the MPSF meet, which featured sophomore Brandon Hasson, senior Herb Polk, sophomore Jeremy Wright and junior Drelan Bramwell. The quad hit a combined time of 3:09.38, adding 10 points to the Sun Devils score and sealing the men's victory over UA.

Redshirt sophomore heptathlete Liam Henshaw hit back-to-back personal bests in the pole vault, registering the first at 4.80m (15-9.0) and finishing the event with a final clearance of 4.90m (16-0.75).

"It's always good to have champions," Kraft said. "Maggie Ewen's win yesterday, Keyasia Tibbs winning the triple jump with a lifetime best today and ending with a win in the 4x4 makes it a good night for us."

Speaking of Ewen, the redshirt junior earned a third-place finish in the women's shot put after recording a mark of 16.75m (54-11.5). Ewen contributed 16 points to the overall women's score, which led the group overall. Redshirt senior Ashley Weber finished sixth against the competition with a 15.03m (49-3.75) mark to end the event.

Sophomore Joey Bryant finished fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.11m (6-11.0), while senior CJ Albertson crossed the line in fifth in the men's 3,000-meter race at 8:01.90. Senior thrower Tom Anderson claimed fifth in his respective event the shot put, with a toss of 18.21m (59-9.0). All finishers added points to the men's success.

Sophomore Jeremy Wright also had a historical day, finishing 12th out of 45 runners in the men's 400-meter dash with a new personal best of 48.00.

On the women's side, junior Shaunie Morrison placed sixth overall out of 29 competitors in the 60-meter hurdle final with a time of 8.42.

Sun Devils who qualify will be known on Monday, Feb. 28.
