AUSTIN, Texas – On the final day of the Texas Invitational, the No. 11 Sun Devil men added additional NCAA B cut times, highlighted by Christian Lorenz's 200 breast that not only set a new ASU record but marks the top time in the NCAA this year.
Taking the top seed in prelims into the evening's finals, Lorenz's second-place finish (1:53.54) set new ASU and NCAA marks. Danny Comforti also finished fourth (1:54.37) with an additional B cut. Zach Poti also earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 back (1:40.71).
With Sun Devils in every heat of the 100 free, Cameron Craig (8th), Grant House (12th), and Evan Carlson all swam faster than the NCAA mark.
In the 200 fly, Patrick Park cut .3 seconds and three places off his prelim time in the finals while Dylan Boyd finished eighth in the B final.
With the meet's final event, Craig, Carlson, Andrew Porter, House, finished fourth with the fifth NCAA relay cut of the weekend for the Sun Devils.
In a momentous weekend of competition, the Sun Devils achieved two A cuts (400 medley relay, 800 free relay) and over 30 individual and relay B cuts.
The ASU men return to action after the new year on Saturday, Jan. 6 vs. Harvard while the women next compete at Washington State on Saturday, Jan. 13. Sun Devil diving has a home meet vs. Boise State on Dec. 31.
