TEMPE, Ariz. – With the opportunity to again earn the program's first home sweep at home, Sun Devil Hockey was unable to come away victorious in a 3-1, empty-net loss to Alabama Huntsville on Saturday night at Oceanside Ice Arena.

Despite scoring first again with a power-play tally, the Sun Devils (2-6-2) could not hold off the Chargers' (2-6-0) two-goal period in the middle frame.

"Tonight is a classic case of too little too late," said head coach Greg Powers. "We have come up short here the past four series at Oceanside against Division-I teams. We win on Friday, which is like the exact opposite of what we do on the road, and it is really just befuddling. Again, you keep making excuses for a young team that just thinks it is going to be easier the next day. We played desperate in the third and just had the puck on our sticks four or five times there for the equalizer and couldn't get it done so the result is a split."

For the second-straight night, the ASU defenseman handled a majority of the offense, as sophomore Brinson Pasichnuk went the whole length of the ice before burying his second goal of the season. Linemate Max Balinson earned the primary assist, while goaltender Joey Daccord earned the rare goalie assist as well.

Seven minutes later in the second period, while on the 5-on-3 man advantage, Huntsville's Brennan Saulnier buried a one-timer on the backdoor with just seconds remaining on the 5-minute kill by the Sun Devils.

It would end up being the game-winner and UAH would score the empty net with 26 seconds left.

ASU finished the night 1-for-5 on the man advantage, while killing four of the five Charger power-plays.

The Sun Devils were heavily outshot through the first two periods, with one of their lowest totals as a program in the first with just two shots on goal. Huntsville plagued the Devils with several key blocks throughout the night, while the puck just didn't find the tape at the right time for ASU.

Powers and his team will enjoy a week off before hosting current top-20 Penn State at Gila River Arena on Nov. 17-18. Friday night's match-up is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. on Pac-12 Arizona.
