TEMPE, Ariz. – After a banner year in which the Sun Devils 1-2-3 finished at the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships, several Sun Devils have received end of season awards from the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA).

The top three finishers in the USAT collegiate nationals field – freshman Hannah Henry, sophomore Charlotte Ahrens, and fellow freshman Kyla Roy – earned Division I All-American honors.

Henry was also named the Division I Freshman of the Year while Kyla Roy was named Athlete of the Year across all divisions.

Coach of the Year will be voted upon in the upcoming days by the coaches of CTCA while Scholar All-American awards will be presented at the end of the semester.

USA Triathlon has announced two more Division I triathlon programs in the past two days, with the University of South Dakota and Wagner College becoming the 20th and 21st adders of the sport at the collegiate level.

As collegiate triathlon became an NCAA Emerging Sport for Women in 2014, triathlon has a 10-year window to recruit 40 schools (by 2024), to become a full NCAA championship sport.
