TEMPE, Ariz. – The 2017 NCAA champion Arizona State women's golf team and National Coach of the Year Missy Farr-Kaye announces that Alexandra Försterling and Alessandra Fanali have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI's) to attend ASU and compete for the Sun Devils starting in 2018.
Försterling, a native of Berlin, Germany, has been a member of the German National Team since 2014, the year in which she won the European Young Masters. Also in 2014, she was nominated for the Junior Ryder Cup for Team Europe. More recently, Försterling placed third at the Helen Holm Scottish Women's Championship (2017).
"Alexandra is a member of the German National Team and will solidify our line-up for next fall," said Farr-Kaye. "She is a talented student-athlete and we can't wait for her to join our ASU family."
Fanali, hailing from Fiuggi, Italy, competed in the PING Junior Solheim Cup in 2017 as well as the Italian International Ladies Championship in 2017. In 2015, she competed in the Italian U-16 Championship and in 2016 and 2017, the European team championship.
"Alessandra is a great addition to our team next year," Farr-Kaye said of Fanali. "As a member of the 2017 Junior Solheim Cup team and Italian National team, we are excited for her future at Arizona State."
The No. 12 Sun Devils closed a memorable 2017 at the prestigious East Lake Cup, a tournament they received invitation to by virtue of being one of four NCAA semifinalists earlier this year.
Their spring championship season begins in late January (Jan. 28) with a dual vs. Denver followed by the first tournament of the year, the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge (Feb. 11-13), at which the Sun Devils won their region last season.
