TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State volleyball team and head coach Sanja Tomasevic announced on Thursday the signing of international standout Avital Jaloba to a National Letter of Intent, for the impending 2018 season.

"Avital is an exceptional talent, that has competed at high level in recent years as a member of the Israeli national volleyball team," noted Tomasevic. "She brings with her a great deal of grit and wisdom, that will certainly help elevate this program moving forward. My staff and I expect Avital to make an immediate impact on the court upon her arrival to Tempe."

The Israeli national, who affirmed her commitment to the Sun Devil program Thursday morning, will officially remove the cap on her collegiate career next fall.

Jaloba joins a budding contingent of international players on the Sun Devils' roster, including Ivana Jeremic (Serbia), Danica Krstonosic (Serbia), Carmen Unzue (Spain) and Megan Beedie (Canada). Boasting an athletic, 6-1 frame, Jaloba has garnered extensive international playing experience, having competed for the Israeli women's national team since 2013. In 31 matches at the 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championships, Jaloba logged impressive tallies of 5.30 kills/s and 1.6 block/s. Appearing in over eight international competitions for the squad in total, Jaloba will join the Sun Devils as one of the team's most seasoned international competitors.

Jaloba's playing experience extends beyond the national level, as she competed as a member of the Israeli-based Hapoel KFAR SABA volleyball club from 2016-17, appearing in the 2016/17 ISR National Championships and 2016/17 CEV Volleyball Cups, respectively.

Of pertinent note, Jaloba recently completed two years of service in the Israeli Defensive Forces.

The Sun Devils are slated to hit the gym tonight, to play host to No. 16 Oregon. First serve is set for 6 p.m. PT and will air via Pac-12 Network.
