TEMPE, Ariz. – After a pair of victories to open the regular season last weekend, Arizona State swimming & diving is set to host USC and UCLA this weekend.
THE DETAILS
The Sun Devils welcome a pair of Pac-12 foes to town in USC on Friday, Nov. 3 (2 p.m.) and UCLA on Saturday, Nov. 4 (11 a.m.). Both meets will take place at Mona Plummer Aquatic Complex (601 S College Ave. Tempe, AZ 85827) and are free to the public.
In the most recent CSCAA team polls released (Oct. 25), the ASU men are ranked No. 8.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, both the men and women earned a pair of victories – vs. Utah (Oct. 27) and Florida State (Oct. 28).
In the season opener, both Sun Devil squads won by convincing margins as the men earned a 197-103 victory and the women a 207.5-92.5 victory. ASU won 27 of 32 events on the evening, including three of four replays. In diving, Mara Aiacoboae (3m) and Ashley McCool (1m) took the women's crowns while Youssef Selim won both men's diving events.
On Saturday, the men earned another convincing victory, 176-124, over the No. 20 Seminoles while the ASU women earned a closely contested upset, 152.5-147.5, vs. No. 23 Florida State. ASU won the first four individual events, later going on two five-event win streaks throughout the meet. Sun Devil diving won three of four events and competed in the platform dive, an event not usually done during the regular season.

THE OPPONENTS
The Sun Devils will have one of their toughest tests of the young season on Friday as the USC men are ranked No. 10 while the women are ranked No. 4. UCLA's women are unranked but are receiving votes in the latest CSCAA poll.
Earlier this season, the USC men defeated UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, and CSU Bakersfield while the women earned victories vs. San Diego, in a tri-meet vs. Oregon State and CSU Bakersfield, and vs. Washington State, also finishing first at the SMU Classic.
UCLA, who only has a women's team, has had a busy schedule early, already with a 4-1 record, defeating San Diego, UC Davis, Arkansas, and Washington State and suffering a loss to UC Santa Barbara two weeks ago. They finished fourth at the SMU Classic.
NEXT UP
After five straight home meets, including intrasquad, to start the season, the Sun Devils have just under two weeks off from competition before women's swim heads to the Art Adamson Invitational (Nov. 16-18) while diving travels north to the NAU Lumberjack Diving Invitational (Nov. 17-19). Men's swim will next compete at the Texas Invitational near the end of the month (Nov. 30-Dec. 2).
