TEMPE, Ariz.-- Head coach Trisha Ford and the Sun Devil Softball team has released their 2018 non-conference schedule, featuring 24 home games and 12 games against teams that competed in the 2017 NCAA postseason.
The Sun Devils will open the season the weekend of Feb. 8th with a home tournament. The Sun Devils will play six games over four days, including games against two 2017 NCAA Tournament participants – Tennessee (Feb. 8), who was eliminated in the Super Regional, and Notre Dame (Feb. 10), who was eliminated in the Auburn Regional. During the tournament, the Sun Devils will also face Purdue (Feb. 9), Nebraska (Feb. 9), Indiana (Feb. 11) and St. Mary's (Feb. 11).
Following the opening weekend of play, the Sun Devils will host the 2018 Littlewood Classic, facing four teams from Feb. 16-18. During this tournament, the Sun Devils will match up against 2017 College Station Regional qualifier Texas State (Feb. 17), North Dakota (Feb. 16), Illinois State (Feb. 17) and San Diego (Feb. 18).
Following the two home weekends, the Sun Devils will travel to Palm Springs, Calif., for the Mary Nutter Classic, where they participate in six games from Feb. 22-25. The Sun Devils will take on two more 2017 NCAA Tournament teams, including reigning national champion Oklahoma and Salt Lake City Regional participant Mississippi State. During the tournament, the Sun Devils will also face LIU Brooklyn (Feb. 23), Liberty (Feb. 24) and Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 25).
The Devils will kick off the month of March with a pair of games against Coastal Carolina (March 2-3) to be followed by a single game against 2017 Tucson Regional participant New Mexico State on March 3.
Next up, the Sun Devils will have two mid-week games, taking on South Dakota on March 6, and Georgetown on March 7.
During the weekend of Mach 9-11, the Sun Devils will host a three-game series against San Diego and also take on Tuscaloosa Regional participant Minnesota twice.
The Sun Devils close out the first portion of their non-conference slate with a mid-week double-header against Iowa on Wednesday, March 14.
Following a pair of Pac-12 series, the Sun Devils will play a four-game invitational weekend that features a pair of games against Norman Regional qualifier North Dakota State, and Salt Lake City Regional participant BYU to close out the non-conference slate.
