TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State volleyball team (10-14, 0-12 Pac-12) fell in four sets to California, 14-25, 25-22, 22-25, 11-25, on Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena.
Senior Oluoma Okaro led the way for the Sun Devils with 14 kills. She has now reached the double-digit kills mark in 22 out of her 24 games this season.
Freshman Griere Hughes posted an additional 10 kills for her 13th match this season with double digits in that category.
Sophomore setter Nicole Peterson provided a solid performance, picking up 30 assists to go along with 7 digs. Senior libero Halle Harker provided 19 digs, bringing her career total to 1,861, which remains the third best in school history.
The Sun Devils had five service aces on the night, their most in a match since recording seven against Gonzaga on September 1st.
For the Bears, three players recorded double-digit kills: Mima Mirkovic (13), Preslie Anderson (11) and Carmen Annevelink (11). Mirkovic also posted 19 digs for a double-double. Freshman setter Isabel Potter helped out the Bears with 27 assists and 7 digs.
"We need to go back to work and move on as fast as we can to get ready for next week" Coach Moreno stated. "There's still a lot of volleyball to be played. We're not going to stop working. We're not going to stop working hard and we're going to make those changes."
Next up, the Sun Devils head to Southern California to battle No. 19 USC (15-7, 7-4 Pac-12) on Friday, Nov. 3 and No. 13 UCLA (13-7, 6-5 Pac-12) on Saturday, Nov. 4. Saturday's match will be live streamed on www.UCLABruins.com.
