The Arizona State women's lacrosse team traveled across the country last weekend for their first fall ball tournament of the inaugural season.
The Sun Devils played six times throughout the two-day exhibition tournament hosted by the Naval Academy, picking up a win against St. Joe's and battling hard with 2017 national semifinalist Navy. The team also was able to tie Louisville, another NCAA tournament team and top-20 team headed into the 2018 season.
With ASU's first competitive season right around the corner, all athletes were able to log quality minutes which is a critical part of fall ball. The trip also served as a bonding experience for players and program support staff as building culture continues to be key prior to the inaugural season kickoff.
ASU competed in three other tough battles with Drexel, George Washington and Coastal Carolina to complete the road trip.
"We saw great competition and had an amazing first experience with all of our Sun Devil lacrosse fans, including family, friends and recruits who traveled to watch us play and cheer us on," said head coach Courtney Martinez Connor. "We look forward to more fall games this weekend before showcasing our team in Tempe at the end of the month."
This Saturday the Sun Devils will travel to San Diego to play in another fall ball tournament, playing games against 2018 in-season opponents San Diego State and USC.
During ASU Homecoming weekend, Coach Connor and the entire lacrosse program invite fans to come see the team for the first time before the inaugural season in the annual Maroon & Gold Scrimmage at the Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
