TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State women's lacrosse team and head coach Courtney Martinez Connor are excited to roll out the inaugural 2018 season schedule, starting with the non-conference match-ups.
The Sun Devils will start their schedule on the road the first three weeks of the season, starting in the southeast at Kennesaw State (Georgia) and Stetson (Florida) the second week of February. ASU then comes back west to face San Diego State on Feb. 17.
The team has one more road trip the weekend of Feb. 24 to New York to take on Manhattan and Columbia.
The Sun Devils will officially open the inaugural season within the welcoming arms of Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday, Mar. 3 against Presbyterian before beginning Pac-12 play. In between conference play ASU will host one more non-conference game on Tuesday, Mar. 20 against Liberty.
The Pac-12 Conference will also be celebrating its inaugural season of women's lacrosse as the addition of ASU brings the conference to six teams, enough to have a conference championship. The Sun Devils will face each team twice during the season, once on the road and once on home turf.
Last season the Pac-12 saw both USC and Colorado in the NCAA bracket. The Trojans made it to the quarterfinals before losing to eventual runner-up Boston College. The official conference schedule should be announced sometime in December.
Before the 2018 season even starts, the Sun Devils will travel to Annapolis, Md. for the Naval Academy Fall Ball Tournament this weekend, Oct. 14-15. ASU will play six times over the two-day tournament in preparation for the spring season.
This weekend, the team will face two NCAA Tournament teams in Louisville (first round) and semifinalist Navy. The Sun Devils will also match up against St. Joe's, Drexel, George Washington and Coastal Carolina.
The Sun Devils will also play in a fall ball tournament hosted by San Diego State on Oct. 21 where they will face the hosting Aztecs and Pac-12 rival USC, two teams they will also see in the 2018 season.
Most importantly, Coach Connor and the entire lacrosse program invites fans to come see the team for the first time before the inaugural season in the annual Maroon & Gold Scrimmage at the Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
