AUSTIN, Texas – No. 3 Arizona State women's golf earned their fifth straight top-three finish dating back to last season, now finishing in the top-3 in 11 of their last 12 tournaments, at this week's Betsy Rawls Invitational hosted by the No. 19 University of Texas.
On a day plagued by weather, only two student-athletes shot below par in the third and final round.
Olivia Mehaffey earned her second straight top-10 finish, finishing in a tie for sixth, while Linnea Strom earned her third top-10 finish of the season in as many opportunities.
Playing as an individual, Sophia Zeeb tied for 12th, her highest finish since last March's Clover Cup.
"We struggled today with the cold and windy conditions and really stumbled coming in to drop into third place," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "But a bright spot was both Linnea and Olivia finishing top-10. We are a little tired from playing back-to-back weeks but have a 10-day break before we leave for Hawai'i, which will be good for us."
The Sun Devils finished in third as the host-Longhorns finished on top followed by No. 11 Furman.
After competing in back-to-back weeks, the Sun Devils have nearly two weeks until their next competition – the Pac-12 preview in Hawai'i Oct. 23-24, a tournament ASU won last season.
At the end of the month (Oct. 30-Nov. 1), ASU will compete in the East Lake Cup in Atlanta, a replication of the final three days of May's NCAA championships, with one day of stroke play to determine an individual winner and two days of match play to crown a team champion.
