Valencia was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Virginia Duals, given annually to the best wrestler as voted upon by the coaches in attendance.
He went 4-0 as the Sun Devils finished third, their highest team finish at the duals since 1997. He now has a team-high eight pins (tied with Cal Poly's Colton Schilling for best in the Pac-12) after two over the weekend.
He remains undefeated (25-0) on his freshman season going into this weekend.
This weekend, the #18 Sun Devils host North Carolina on Friday, Jan. 20 at 7 pm. The event is the team's now-annual MMA night where several MMA stars, including many former Sun Devils, will return to Tempe. Friday will be broadcast on Pac-12 Arizona.
Sunday, ASU heads to Stanford (3 pm MT) for a key Pac-12 matchup.
