BERKELEY, Calif.-- The Arizona State volleyball team (10-6, 0-4 Pac-12) fell in three sets to host California (10-4, 1-2 Pac-12), 19-25, 20-25, 19-25, Friday night at Haas Pavilion.

"Tonight was simply disappointing," noted Sun Devil head coach Sanja Tomasevic. "Credit to California, as they showed heart, something we unfortunately lacked. It's key that we learn moving forward to play with a sense of urgency and to show grit in the face of adversity, rather than fold when the going gets tough. As always we plan to address our deficiencies this coming week through film and practice, and look forward to returning to Tempe and competing in front of our fans."

A bright spot on the outing, senior Oluoma Okaro recorded her Pac-12-best sixth double-double of the 2017 campaign, logging a match-best 16 kills while adding 12 digs. She has now posted double-digit kills tallies in 14 of Arizona State's 16 matches on the season. Sophomore Ivana Jeremic and freshman Griere Hughes each added five kills in the outing.

Buoying the Sun Devil defensive effort senior Halle Harker totaled 22 digs, while the aforementioned Jeremic contributed eight digs and a team-best three blocks.

Sophomore Nicole Peterson and freshman Shelbie Dobemier both saw time at the setter position with Peterson earning the start. Peterson finished the outing with 19 assists and eight digs to her credit, while Dobmeier, who entered the match in the night's final frame, tallied 12 assists.

For the Bears, Antzela Dempi posted nine kills while adding a match-best four blocks, while Isabel Potter (19) and Mackenzie Albrecht (16) combined for 35 assists.

Up next, the Sun Devils will return to Tempe for their longest home stand of the season. The Sun Devils will kick start the home stay playing host to No. 13 UCLA and No. 20 USC on consecutive nights, welcoming the LA-based programs on Friday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, Oct. 7, respectively. Friday's match with the Bruins is slated to be televised via the Pac-12 Network, while Saturday's tilt with the Trojans can be viewed on the Sun Devils' ASU Live Stream. The following weekend, Arizona State will welcome Colorado (Friday, Oct. 13th) and Utah (Sunday, Oct. 15th) to cap the stretch.
