Berkeley, Calif. -- The Arizona State soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to three matches with a, 1-1, double overtime draw at No. 11 California Thursday afternoon.

"I was very proud of the work the ladies put in today," said head coach Graham Winkworth. "I was proud of the concentration that they showed. We had a lapse early in the second half that could have ended the game, but the girls showed a lot of character to fight back. Both teams had opportunities to win it towards the end. I was also very happy with the amount of support we had on the road today. Myself, and the team, want to particularly thank coach Sanja Tomasevic, and the ASU volleyball team for their vocal support. That really means a lot."

The Sun Devils (4-4-2, 1-0-1) fought toe-to-toe with the No. 11 Golden Bears through the first 45 minutes of play, but neither team was able to push ahead as the game went to halftime, tied 0-0.

The home side wasted no time, finding the back of the net just two minutes into the second half.

The Sun Devil's answer would come in the 70th- minute, when senior Madison Stark corralled a deflected ball inside the box and fired it through to make it a 1-1 contest.

"We were excited when we came here and saw who we had in the non-conference schedule, it was very daunting and what we needed," Winkworth added. "It was exactly what we needed to prepare for an incredibly challenging conference."

ASU and Cal continued to trade jabs in the final 20 minutes of play, but neither team was able to break the deadlock, sending the Sun Devils to their fifth overtime match of the season.

The Sun Devils and Golden Bears fought an extra 20- minutes of scoreless soccer, earning the ASU its second draw of the season, and extending their unbeaten streak to three-matches.

The Sun Devils will be back in action on Sunday when they continue their grueling road trip with a match against No. 2 Stanford in Palo Alto.

"There is a reason that Stanford is one of the top-two teams in the country," said Winkworth of the Sunday matchup. "They are such a talented team, but they are also deep as well. They have got so many weapons to score goals, and so many defensively. They are incredibly gifted. However; our team is working extremely hard. We have shown, with a quality performance against Weber State, Oregon State and today, we have shown that if we continue to fight and believe that we can compete with anybody. Our plan is to work extremely hard and give Stanford everything we can."
