ABOUT SUN DEVIL MEN'S TENNIS
ASU sponsored men's tennis from 1902-2008, making it the second-oldest sport on campus, following only football (1897). With 18 top-five conference finishes and six top-25 national finishes, Arizona State men's tennis was a consistent member of the NCAA Championships. In 1995 Sargis Sargsian rewrote the Sun Devil tennis record book to become the first Sun Devil to win the NCAA singles title. The three-set win over USC's Brett Hansen gave Sargsian the individual national championship, and earned him NCAA Player of the Year, Pac-10 Player of the Year, All-AmericaN and the top singles ranking in the country. In all, 10 student-athletes earned 14 All-American honors and long-time head coach Lou Belken was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2008.
ABOUT COACH MATT HILL
Hill was recognized as the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the third-straight season in 2016 after leading South Florida to its third consecutive conference championship. He led USF to a program-best national ranking of No. 13 in 2016 and saw two-time All-American Roberto Cid reach the No. 2 individual ranking. The Bulls advanced to the NCAA Tournament each of the last three seasons and reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the first time in program history in 2015.
