LUBBOCK, Texas – The Sun Devil women's tennis team remained perfect Sunday at the Lubbock $25,000 ITF Tournament, as all three Sun Devils won in straight sets to advance to the final round of qualifying.

Lauryn John-Baptiste got her fall season started after she earned a first-round bye. The true freshman handled SMU's Emma Pieroni, defeating the Mustang freshman in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

John-Baptiste will take on veteran Lindsay Lee-Waters in the final round of qualifying Monday. While John-Baptiste and Pieroni were equal in age, Lee-Waters turned pro in 1994 and has competed in all four Grand Slam events with her last major appearance coming in 2005 when she advanced to the second round of the Australian Open.

Senior Nicole Fossa Huergo and true freshman Tereza Kolarova jumped to 2-0 in tournament play Sunday with their wins in straight-sets as well.

Kolarova picked up where she left off from Saturday with another dominant sweep, 6-2, 6-3. Today's comfortable win came against UT Arlington's Brooke Dennis.

Sunday's matchup will put the Sun Devil freshman up against high school sophomore Fiona Crawley from San Antonio, Texas.

As for Fossa Huergo, Notre Dame's Mary Closs made it interesting in the first set, but Fossa Huergo took the tie-break and set win before dominating the second set on her way to a sweep, 7-5(5), 6-1.

The Sun Devil senior faces Texas Tech's own Sabrina Federici in the third and final qualifying round. The UK international Federici cruised into the second round without dropping a set, then fought off fellow countrywoman Laura Deigman, who earned a bye through the first round, 7-6(4),6-4.

The final day of qualifying kicks off tomorrow in Lubbock. Monday's match-winners will advance into the main draw of the tournament.
