TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Hockey, in partnership with the Arizona Coyotes and Gila River Arena, will play three games in Glendale during the 2017-18 season. All three are significant match-ups, including both games against Big Ten tournament champion Penn State on Nov. 17-18 and ECAC powerhouse Quinnipiac on Jan. 20.
Single game tickets for the Maroon package of games – NAIT, UMass-Amherst, Alabama-Huntsville and UMass-Lowell – are now on sale. Season ticket holders will receive priority and the first opportunity at purchasing the three-game Gila River pack as well. Tickets for all Oceanside match-ups are available through the ASU ticket office at 480-727-3525.
Tickets for the Gold package games – Boston University, Quinnipiac and Princeton -- will be released on Nov. 9, if tickets remain. Tickets to these games may only be guaranteed to season ticket holders.
Three-game packs for Gila River games will go on sale Monday, Sept. 18 followed by single game tickets on Thursday, Sept. 21. Tickets for all games in Glendale can be purchased by calling 480-563-PUCK (7825).
Following the exhibition against NAIT on Saturday, Sept. 30, the Sun Devils drop the puck in the season opener against UMass-Amherst and defenseman Cale Makar, who was drafted fourth overall in the 2017 NHL Draft, on Oct. 6-7 at Oceanside Ice Arena.
After a three-week road trip, head coach Greg Powers and the Devils return for a two-game series against fellow Sun Belt program Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 3-4 at Oceanside.
The first of two open weekends this season will occur before ASU hosts 2016 Big Ten tournament champions Penn State at Gila River Arena on Nov. 17-18. The Nittany Lions finished 2016 as one of the top-scoring teams in the country. The Devils visited Happy Valley last November when Penn State was ranked No. 10 in the country, and ultimately lost both games on the backend of a 10-day road trip.
The final home games of the calendar year feature two-straight against Princeton, who finished in the middle of the pack within the ECAC at 15-16-3.
While the 2016-17 season does not feature the third-annual Desert Hockey Classic, the Sun Devils will travel to Pittsburgh for the historic Three Rivers Classic from Dec. 29-30, followed by kicking off the new year a short trip away in Las Vegas for the inaugural Ice Vegas Invitational on Jan. 5-6.
Rounding out the Maroon package of games is Hockey East co-champion UMass-Lowell, who made the quarterfinals of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Both puck drops are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Oceanside Ice Arena on Jan. 12-13.
The remaining home games at Oceanside are scheduled to be released during the season.
