Sophomore libero Halle Johnson is slated to enter he second season with the Sun Devils. Appearing in 78 total sets for the Sun Devils during the 2016 campaign, she recorded 120 digs accounting for the seventh most on the team. A Sun Devil through and through, Johnson, a highly accomplished product of Seton Catholic Prep, will look to continue to shine while donning her hometown Maroon and Gold this upcoming season...  

What drew you to Arizona State?

Arizona State has always been my dream school. I have lived in Tempe my whole life and grew up watching Sun Devil Volleyball.

If you could have dinner with anyone from any era, who would it be and why?
If I could have dinner with anyone from any era, it would be Helen Keller. I would love to learn more about her life and how she dealt with the main adversities she had handed to her.
 
If you had the chance to pick the brain of any coach in any sport, who would it be?
If I had the chance to pick the brain of any coach, I would want to pick John Wooden's brain.
 
If you had the chance to watch one past sporting event, which one would you go to? 
If I had the chance to watch one past sporting event it would be the Misty May and Kerri Walsh's final gold medal together at the 2012 London Olympics.
 
What is your hometown and what do you like best about it?
My hometown is Tempe, Arizona and I like the various mountain biking and hiking trails the most.
 
Which past Sun Devil (any sport) do you wish you could have watched play?
I wish I could have watched Jen Leo set for ASU.
 
What is the last book you read?
The Help
 
What's your favorite song from your favorite artist? 
My favorite song is "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts.
 
What is your favorite inspirational quote?

What is a movie that you can watch over and over again? 
I can watch the Parent Trap over and over again.
 
What is the best advice your parents ever gave you? 
Work hard, stay humble, and always think about others before yourself.
 
If you could be on any game show which would you choose? 
If I could be on any game show, I would want to be on Family Feud.
 
If you could learn to do anything what would it be?
If I could learn to do anything, I would want to fly.
 
What three words would you use to describe yourself? 
Determined, thoughtful, and dedicated
 
What chore do you absolutely hate doing? 
Dusting or picking the weeds in the front yard are equally terrible.
 
What is your best childhood memory? 
My best childhood memory is going camping and riding dirt bikes and quads (ATVs) with my intermediate family, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.   
 
What's your favorite TV show and why? 
My favorite TV show is One Tree Hill, because I love all of the characters and can watch any episode over and over again.
 
What is your favorite road trip destination?
My favorite road trip destination is California or Oregon.
 
What is one place you really want to visit? 
I really want to visit Hawaii.
 
If someone wrote a book about your life what would they title it? 
"Face Every Challenge with a Positive Mindset"
 
If you could meet anyone, past or present, who would it be? 
If I could meet anyone, I would want to meet Helen Keller or Larry Fitzgerald.
 
What is one thing most people don't know about you? 
I actually enjoy working out and outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and wake boarding.
 
Who is your favorite athlete of all time? 
My favorite athlete of all time is Larry Fitzgerald.  
 
Who has been your biggest inspiration in the sport of volleyball? 
My biggest inspiration in volleyball is Courtney Thompson.
 
What is your favorite volleyball related memory?
My favorite volleyball related memory is getting second at the Summer Volleyball Festival in Phoenix, Arizona the summer before my Junior year in high school. 

What is the hardest thing about volleyball? 
The hardest thing about volleyball is remaining level headed and confident in my abilities.
 
Do you have any personal goals for this upcoming season?
To be the best person, teammate, athlete, and student I can possibly be.
