TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) performed their 2018 Division I Women's Kick-Off Weekend Draft on Wednesday, and the Sun Devils' women's tennis team drew the fourth-seed at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.
The No. 34 Devils are in one of the toughest of the 15 regionals, which includes No. 10 Oklahoma State, No. 28 TCU and No. 32 Ole Miss. The winners of each regional will earn an automatic bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
ASU will take on the Cowgirls on Fri, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. CT.
Two matches are guaranteed, with the winners and losers of the first round playing each other on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Last season, the Devils traveled to Lubbock and upset then-No. 16 South Carolina in the first match. They went on to lose a nail-biter to No. 13 Texas Tech, 4-3.
Head coach Sheila McInerney will welcome a top-notch incoming class for 2017-18 of four women – all coming from foreign countries.
