TEMPE, Ariz. – For the second year in a row, senior distance runner CJ Albertson was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® track & field/cross country team for District 8.
Albertson was one of 10 men selected to the NCAA Division I team, and will now be up for an Academic All-America® selection. The final awards will be announced on Friday, June 23.
Earlier this month, Albertson was named the Pac-12 Men's Track & Field Scholar Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Sun Devil to earn the yearly award since Nick Happe in 2012-13.
The Clovis, California-native posted a perfect 4.00 grade-point average while completing his undergraduate degree in exercise & wellness in just three years, and now carries a 3.86 GPA while pursuing his master's in physical education. He has appeared on both the Pac-12 and USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams in each of the past two years.
In 2016, Albertson was the only Sun Devil track & field/cross country athlete named to the Academic All-District team, and repeats that same feat this year.
On the track, Albertson will leave ASU with a top-10 time in four different events, with one being the all-time fastest 5,000-meter time in program history.
