TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State softball fell to No. 10 UCLA ,13-3, Friday night at Farrington Stadium in game two of the three-game series between the two teams.
The two top-25 teams traded blows early with neither team able to plate a run in the opening two frames, but it was the Bruins who would crack open the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first.
With UCLA able to add a pair of runs in the third, it was sophomore Fa Leilua who would plate ASU's first run of the game off a towering shot that cleared the wall in left. The home run for Leilua was No. 12 on the season for the slugging outfielder who has now hit six home runs in Pac-12 play this season.
The Bruins, however, would respond with six unanswered runs in the next three frames, before the ASU bats sprung to life in the bottom of the sixth. Senior Margaret Stahm got the would-be rally started in the fifth with a solo shot to left, before Leilua made it a 9-3 game with an RBI single that scored Chelsea Gonzales.
UCLA would close things down in the final frame, adding four runs on three hits to cap the 13-3 win.
