Tucson, Ariz. -- The 23rd- ranked Arizona State softball team fell to Arizona, 8-0, in the series finale between the two squads Sunday evening at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium.

After holding the nation's top-offense relatively quiet in the first two games of the series, the Wildcats exploded for eight runs on seven hits to claim the series victory over the Sun Devils.

Both teams put pressure on the opening two frames, but it was the Wildcats who opened the scoring with back-to-back home runs in the third to take an early, 2-0 lead.

Following a quiet half inning from the Sun Devils, the Wildcats jumped out in front with a six-run fourth to make it an 8-0 Arizona lead.

No. 23 Arizona State will return home next weekend to host California for a three-game set beginning Friday afternoon. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5 p.m. followed by game two Saturday at 5. The series will conclude with game three Sunday with first pitch slated for 3 p.m. All three games will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
