TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil women's tennis senior Kassidy Jump has qualified for the NCAA Singles Championships starting on Wednesday, May 24 in Athens, Georgia, the NCAA announced on Wednesday.
The selection becomes Jump's first-ever selection into the individual tournament. She currently holds a 20-12 record in singles and sits sixth in victories on the ASU all-time list with 85 wins during her four-year career.
"We're very happy for Kassidy," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "Kassidy had a rocky start to the season after the Christmas break but has worked really hard these last three months and is playing the best tennis of her Sun Devil career. I'm excited to see her compete in the individual championships in addition to the team event. It is a great way for Kassidy to cap off her successful collegiate career."
The 2016-17 season is the first year Jump -- who is currently ranked No. 63 by the ITA and was as high as No. 60 this season -- has represented the Devils on court one, and played some of the nation's best. Jump has faced four top-10 players – three of which earned automatic bids – this season, and a total of 21 ranked players out of her 32 total matches.
Most recently, Jump upset then-No. 23 Gabby Smith and No. 37 Jessica Failla of USC in the matter of two weeks.
The NCAA will announce Jump's first round opponent on Tuesday, May 23.
The Sun Devils will travel to Auburn, Ala. next week to start the team competition of the NCAA Tournament as the two-seed in the four-team regional, and will face No. 41 Florida State on Friday, May 12 at 8 a.m. PT.
