SEATTLE, Wash. – The Sun Devil women's tennis team completed the sweep of the Washington schools, as they upset No. 31 Washington (15-6, 4-3), 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the Bill Qullian Tennis Stadium.

The victory becomes the fifth-straight win for the Devils (12-5, 5-2), thus moving them into fourth in the Pac-12 standings.

"We're really happy to get the win today as Washington is a very good team and they competed extremely hard, which we knew they would," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "Our team fought hard also and played very good tennis. I thought we came out and played very aggressive doubles and that seemed to carry over to the singles. Savannah came up big today in both singles and doubles, which was great to see. Savannah, Kelley and Nicole played well to win their singles in straight sets. It's not easy getting two road wins, so kudos to the team for getting the job done this weekend."

Doubles once again gave ASU the early lead, as Kassidy Jump and Sammi Hampton took the first victory on court 3. The duo defeated Katarina Kopcalic and Slavic, 6-1, for their eighth-straight win in doubles.

While No. 82 Nicole Fossa-Huergo and Alex Osborne held a 4-3 advantage over No. 44 Nour Abbes and Miki Kobayashi on court one, No. 71 Kelley Anderson and Savannah Slaysman clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court two.

As singles began, Anderson – who is ranked No. 88 in singles – kept her foot on the gas pedal, as she rolled to a straight-set victory over Nour Abbes, 6-3, 6-3.

With the 2-0 lead, Slaysman followed suit with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Alexis Prokopuik on court five to put the Devils on the brink of clinching the match.

The Huskies, however, showed signs of life.

No. 50 Stacey Fung won a back-and-forth battle over Jump – ranked No. 61 – on court one, 6-4, 6-4. Minutes later, No. 123 Kobayashi upset No. 80 Hampton on court two, 6-3, 7-6, to bring Washington within one.

After a close first set that fell in favor of Fossa-Huergo, 7-5, the Italian finished the second and clinched the match for ASU with a 6-3 win over Kenadi Hance on court four.

While Gussie O'Sullivan's match was not needed to finish, they played a third set tiebreak on court six. Washington's Katarina Kopcalic won that third set in a nail-biter, 13-11, to bring the final to 4-3.

ASU has now defeated four ranked opponents and three in their last five matches.

The Devils will now return home for a crucial Pac-12 weekend, as they host No. 40 USC on Friday, April 14 followed by No. 20 UCLA on Saturday, April 15.
