TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State beach volleyball team (14-14, 2-3 Pac-12) won both matches Friday afternoon, defeating New Mexico, 4-1, and Pac-12 counterpart California, 3-2, respectively.
Pacing the Sun Devils, the No. 1 senior duo of Bianca Arellano and Whitney Follette and the No. 2 pair of Oluoma Okaro and Madison Berridge also won both their afternoon matches. Seeking revenge from earlier in the season, Arellano and Follette battled to three sets with New Mexico's Cassie House and Ashley Kelsey, but came out with a victory, 21-19, 17-21, 17-15. The pair won in a more dominating fashion against Cal's No. 1s, 21-15, 21-13. Okaro and Berridge took both their matches today in two quick sets, 21-16, 21-18 over New Mexico, and 21-19, 21-13 over Cal.
In the No. 5 match against Cal, Natalie Braun and Katie Cross rallied back in the third set to win an exciting match, 21-17, 19-21, 17-15.
Katelyn Carballo and Ellyson Lundberg as the No. 3 pair and Mia Rivera and Cassidy Pickrell in the No. 4 pair both split their matches, 1-1.
