TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 2/5 Sun Devils prepare to make a short trip south to Tucson for the 2017 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships (Apr. 24-26) at Sewailo Golf Club at Casino Del Sol Resort.
A Territorial Cup® series point is up for grabs to the higher finisher between ASU and host University of Arizona. To add fuel to the rivalry, each team currently has eight team Pac-10/12 championships.
Six Pac-12 teams, including the No. 2 Sun Devils, are ranked in the Golfweek Top 25 – Stanford (No. 3), UCLA (No. 5), USC (No. 10), Arizona (No. 13), California (No. 22) – while Stanford (No. 2), UCLA (No. 3), USC (No. 7), Arizona (No. 14), and Colorado (No. 21) are also ranked in the Golfstat Top 25 with ASU (No. 5).
Arizona State and Colorado will tee off on hole one Monday between 9:20-9:52 am. Tuesday and Wednesday pairings will be based on standings following each day of competition.
The Sun Devils look for their ninth Pac-10/12 team championship and first since 2009, a year in which Carlota Ciganda won a playoff over teammate Jennifer Osborn and USC's Jennifer Song after a three-way tie for first.
2009 marked ASU's second championship in three years (2007) after which the Sun Devils previously won back-to-back (1987, 1988) and four consecutive (1993-1996) conference championships, respectively. ASU has also finished in the top three in 20 of 30 seasons.
Individually, Linnea Strom set the lowest 54-hole individual total in Pac-12 championship history (205) en route to the 2016 title, becoming the 12th individual medalist from ASU.
