Eugene, Ore. -- The Arizona State softball team fell on the road, 1-0, at No. 3 Oregon Sunday afternoon at Jane Sanders Stadium in Eugene.

The 21st- ranked Sun Devils (23-12, 2-7) went toe-to-toe with the third-ranked Ducks for seven innings, but a late RBI single by Oregon in the bottom of the eighth inning proved to be the difference between the two teams.

The Sun Devils gave up just three-hits through the first seven innings, matching a season low for the Ducks who entered the weekend series as the nation's top-hitting team with a combined .365 batting average.

Junior Dale Ryndak made her ninth start of the season for the Sun Devils, and provided ASU 7.1 innings, a new career high for the Downers Grove, Ill., native, allowing just five hits while recording three strikeouts. The junior threw 135 total pitches on the day, 81 for strikes, including 21 first pitch strikes in her 32 batters faced.

At the plate, four different Sun Devils recorded a hit, including sophomore Skylar McCarty, who carded a pair of hits in the contest. Following Sunday's game, McCarty has talied 37 hits on the season, including a 14-game hit streak to begin the season.

The 21st- ranked Sun Devils will be back in action on April 13th when the team will hit the road again to face Stanford. Following the three-game series at Stanford, the Sun Devils will return home to face No. 15 Utah before traveling down south to play fourth-ranked Arizona in a pivotal Territorial Cup matchup.
