SAN FRANCISCO – Following the completion of the 2016-17 collegiate wrestling season, the Pac-12 Conference has announced the All-Academic teams and seven Sun Devils represent Arizona State on the teams.

Tanner Hall, Ted Rico, and Tyler Sage were named to the First Team while Austyn Harris, Josh Kramer, and Pac-12 champions Josh Shields and Anthony Valencia received Honorable Mention recognition.

To be named, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 over GPA and appear in at least 50 percent of his team's scheduled games. Injury/illness also does not count against the criteria to appear in 50 percent of the competitions.

Pac-12 champion and All-American Tanner Hall earns his first career recognition as a sophomore with a 3.64 GPA as an electrical engineering major. Hall impressed at the NCAA championships, upsetting the No. 4 and No. 3 seeds en route to a third-place finish in his second season competing at the national level. He is also a member of Barrett, the Honors College at ASU.

Ted Rico posted a 3.45 GPA as a health sciences major while Tyler Sage currently has a 3.67 GPA as a finance major, both in their first year of competition as redshirt freshmen. Rico earned his first career victory in the team's Pac-12 opener vs. Cal Poly while Sage picked up a pair of wins in November's Daktronics Open.

The Sun Devils had their best season in recently memory, with their highest finish at NCAA's since 2011 and most All-Americans and medalists since the same season. They moved up 15-20 spots in national rankings to finish with a top-10 rank, advanced five or more to NCAA's for the third consecutive year, and earned best finishes in years at Midlands and Virginia Duals.
