TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State women's tennis team picked up their second-straight victory on Friday, as they took care of Northern Arizona by a score of 6-1 at Whiteman Tennis Center.

After a rare loss in doubles to start the match in a 1-0 deficit, the Sun Devils (9-5, 2-2) regathered themselves in singles to capture all six victories in straight sets.

"I was disappointed with how we came out in the doubles, and like against UNLV, thought we didn't have a lot of energy," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "Give NAU credit, as I thought they came out and played really well in doubles. Their kids were feisty, hungry and energetic. Doubles is all about that.

"Our kids were taken back and surprised, but with that being said, I thought we did a really good job of coming back and keeping our cool in singles."

The Devils did just that, as they blitzed through their singles matches in one of their shorter matches this season.

No. 90 Kelley Anderson and No. 65 Kassidy Jump finished nearly simultaneously on courts three and one, respectively. Anderson handled Blanka Szavay, 6-1, 6-0, while Jump defeated Lodewijks, 6-0, 6-1.

On courts five and six, freshman Savannah Slaysman and senior Gussie O'Sullivan extended the lead soon after and clinched the match.

For good measure, Nicole Fossa-Huergo sealed up her match, 6-2, 6-3, on court four over Brandy Walker.

No. 63 Sammi Hampton finished off the sixth and final point of the match, as she battled with Chiara Tomasetti for a set tiebreak in the second, winning 7-6(6).

ASU wraps up their week of competition and looks ahead to diving back into Pac-12 play against No. 36 Oregon, who is currently 3-1 in Pac-12 play.

That match will be on Friday, March 31 at 1:30 p.m. PT at Whiteman Tennis Center.
