Seattle, Wash.-- The 21st- ranked Arizona State softball team fell in their Pac-12 series opener against No. 6 Washington, 6-4 Saturday at Husky Softball Stadium.

Junior Breanna Macha started in the circle for the Sun Devils, delivering six strong innings. The Mesa, Ariz., native threw 117 total pitches on the day, giving up just seven hits and three earned runs.

At the plate, ASU was powered by senior catcher Sashel Palacios, who ended the day three for four with an RBI. The RBI was her 65th of her career while today's effort improved her team-leading reached base streak to seven straight games. Freshman designated player Randi Farricker also had a great day at the plate, matching a career-high two hits in the game, her second multi-hit game of her career.

After holding the Sun Devils to a one-hit first inning, the Husky offense exploded for four runs in the home half of the frame.

ASU would respond in the top of the second, as the Sun Devils would combine for three runs on two hits in the second to send the game to the third with UW leading by just one run.

Following a scoreless third and fourth inning, the Sun Devils tied the game up in the top of the fifth when Palacios looped an RBI single to left that scored Farricker from third, moving the score to four-all heading to the home half of the inning.

Unfortunately for the Sun Devils, the Huskies would regain the lead in the bottom of the fifth with two runs on three hits, rounding out the Washington victory.

Arizona State will be back in action to complete the three-game series against the Huskies with a doubleheader tomorrow morning. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 10 a.m. with game two set to begin just 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
