SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Sun Devil women's tennis team pulled out another shutout victory on Saturday afternoon, as ASU rolled to a 6-0 victory against San Diego State at the Aztec Tennis Center.

For the fifth-straight match, the Devils (4-1, 0-0) captured the doubles point and remain undefeated on the season in doubles.

"I thought we played well today," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "We came out and played good, solid doubles and did the same in singles. We committed very few unforced errors, which was good. Nice to get the win and excited to play again tomorrow."

Senior Kassidy Jump and sophomore Sammi Hampton got the ball rolling on court three, earning a 6-1 victory over Alli Valk and Olivia Larsson for the first doubles match of the day.

Minutes later, junior Kelley Anderson and freshman Savannah Slaysman continued to show why they should be within the ITA top-50, capturing their 11th win of the 2016-17 season together. It is their first dual match victory together after having four-straight undecided matches.

With a 1-0 lead, the women carried their momentum into singles as coach McInerney stated.

Slaysman lost just one point in her match with Larsson on court five, making it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Juniors Nicole Fossa-Huergo and Anderson finished in order to clinch the match, losing just four total points each in their respective matches on court four and three.

Fossa-Huergo defeated Mia Smith, 6-2, 6-2, while Anderson clinched her close first set over Paola Diaz 6-4 followed by a 6-0 sweep in the second. Anderson has now won ninth-straight singles victory.

For good measure, the match continued on all three of the other courts.

However, for precautionary reasons, No. 72 Hampton's match with Kennedy Davis on court two was stopped late in the second set and will go down as a DNF. Thus resulting in the 6-0 final.

Jump, who is ranked No. 79 in the ITA singles rankings, finished her match with Jana Buth in the third set with a 10-4 win. After losing the first set 3-6, she battled back with a 7-5 win in the second to force the decisive set.

On court six, senior Gussie O'Sullivan took care of business in straight sets – 6-2, 6-0 – but did it in her own time with the Devils' final point of the match.

ASU turns right back around for their second match on Sunday, Feb. 26 against the University of San Diego at 12 p.m. PST.
