La Quinta, Calif.- The Arizona State men's golf team finished round one at The Prestige at PGA WEST in contention tied for fifth place.
 
Senior Jared du Toit came out firing in the first round, carding a 4-under 67. His solid round one score puts him tied for first with Stanford's Franklin Huang.  The Sun Devil birded holes 2, 4, 5, 10 and 15. On hole 16, du Toit eagled on the par-5.
 
Blake Wagoner turned the page on a tough front nine, birdieing holes 10 through twelve. Wagoner finished round one firing a two-over 73.

Nicolo Galletti and Ryan Douglass enter round two tied for 41st place with a score of three-over 74. Galletti and Douglass combined for six birdies on the day.
 
Arizona State as a whole recorded a cumulative day 4-over 288.
 
Jared du Toit is in position to capture another top-ten finish.
