TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State women's tennis picked right up where they left off, as they showed little to no signs of cobwebs on Friday afternoon after nearly a three-week layover since their last match.

The No. 17 Sun Devils (3-1) swept the University of Nevada-Reno (2-2), 7-0, in what is now their only match of the weekend.

"I thought considering the circumstances with a three-week layoff and the wind, I thought we played really well – especially in the doubles," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "There was probably 15-plus mile per hour winds, and they handled it very well and all but one won in straight sets."

As McInerney mentioned, the Devils wasted no time with the Wolfpack, as they captured the doubles point rather quickly thanks to courts one and three.

Senior Kassidy Jump and sophomore Sammi Hampton got ASU started on court three, rattling off four-straight games to start the doubles match with Milena Achlamov and Blaga Delic of Nevada. The maroon and gold duo captured the first doubles match with a 6-1 win.

It became a race between the two-ranked Devil duos, as No. 44 Alex Osborne and Nicole Fossa-Huergo eventually captured the doubles point behind a 6-1 win on court one. The Australian-Italian combo lost the first game to Adriana Gergelyova and Sheila Morales before racking up six-straight for the decisive point.

As they transitioned to singles, one Devil wasted no time in getting the team's second point of the match. Junior Kelley Anderson moved at the pace she prefers, blazing to a 6-1, 6-2 win for her eighth-straight singles victory.

On court six, the grinder Gussie O'Sullivan decided to make quick work of her opponent as well versus her typical grind-it-out match. The Australian senior didn't lose a single game, defeating Achlamov 6-0, 6-0.

The match-clinching point was decided by Jump – ranked No. 101 in singles – in a back-and-forth battle with Claudia Herrero on court one. Jump got back to her winning ways, finding a steady groove and trusting herself to a 6-2, 6-3 win.

The Devils and Wolfpack decided to play clinch-play, meaning despite ASU clinching the match at 4-0, they continued the rest of their matches elsewhere.

Slaysman and Fossa-Huergo wrapped up their matches in straight sets on court four and five, respectively. The last match remaining involved Hampton – ranked No. 51 in singles – and Morales on court two. The sophomore Devil started on the right foot, winning the first two games, but Morales clawed back to take a 3-2 lead and an eventual 6-3 win in the first set.

But Hampton rallied back, capturing the second set, 6-2, to force a tiebreak third set. Hampton got down 4-2 in the 10-point tiebreak, but again battled back in route to a 10-7 win.

"Sammi, to her credit, hadn't hit a ball in almost three weeks," said McInerney. "She battled through it and we hope she continues to build. We'll see where she's at in the coming week before San Diego."

The Devils' match that was originally scheduled for Sunday against UNLV has been postponed to Wednesday, March 22 due to forecasted rain.

The next home match is set for March 3 against current No. 8 Pepperdine.
