PALOS VERDES, Calif. – Sophia Zeeb tied her career-low, shooting a one-under-par 70 on day one of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge to lead the #14 Sun Devils.

Zeeb is in a five-way tie for seventh with the two leads just two strokes ahead at 68 after the first round. To start the season, Zeeb shot 70 in both the second and third rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational for her lowest career three-round tournament total.

Among the Sun Devils' region in the Regional Challenge (No. 2 Alabama, No. 20 Arizona, UNLV, and No. 18 Oklahoma State), Zeeb and Arizona's Danielle Lee (also tied for seventh) are the highest individual finishers through day one.

Linnea Strom is also in the top 25, tied for 20th, shooting 73 while Monica Vaughn (T34) is also in the top half of the 88-player field.

"I am pleased with our effort today," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "Sophia had a very good round. We need to stay patient and smart. A good round tomorrow will put us back in the tournament."

UCLA leads after the first round, shooting four-under-par while USC (+1), Duke (+3), and Florida (+6) round out the top four. Among teams in ASU's assigned region, UNLV (+8) is in fifth, Arizona (+9) is tied with the Sun Devils for sixth, Alabama (+12) is in eighth, and Oklahoma State (+13) is tied for ninth.
