In the end it was the Wildcats' offense that would prove to be too much as Arizona (16-2, 5-0) shot 57 percent for the game, including 43 percent from behind the arc (9-21). The quartet of Lauri Markkanen (30 points), Kadeem Allen (18 points), Dusan Ristic (16 points) and Kobi Simmons (13 points) combined to score 77 of Arizona's 91 points in the game.
The Wildcats outrebounded the Sun Devils 38-22, including a 12-7 advantage on the offensive glass that led to 19 second-chance points for the Wildcats.
After falling behind by as many as 24 in the first half, the Sun Devils would fight back to cut the deficit in half after Holder's triple reduced Arizona's lead to 68-56 with 8:37 remaining. The Sun Devils could get no closer as Arizona responded with a 10-2 run to go back up by 20, 78-58 with 5:20 remaining.
After missing all nine of their 3-point attempts in the first half the Sun Devils knocked down 56 percent of their triples in the second half (10-18), part of a 57-percent shooting effort over the final 20 minutes.
The Sun Devils return to action next Thursday (8 p.m. PT/9 p.m. MT) when they travel to Los Angeles to take on fourth-ranked UCLA.
