ASU is now 3-1 in road non-conference games under Coach Hurley, with wins over UNLV, Creighton and San Diego State, after going 8-22 in the previous 30 tries.
Arizona State's stellar perimeter shooting sparked its offense. The Sun Devils shot 10-23 (.435) from beyond the arc as Shannon Evans led the team from the three-point line shooting 4-6 and added 16 points in total. ASU made 7-of-14 in the second half from three-point land and was 12-of-12 from the free throw line, ending 16-of-18.
Senior forward Obi Oleka notched his 10th career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while junior guard Tra Holder paced the Maroon and Gold with 17 points and five rebounds. ASU shot 24-of-54 (.444) from the field and won the battle on the boards 34-30 over San Diego State.
Torian Graham also notched a solid outing as he scored 15 points and while adding five rebounds in 28 minutes of action. Jethro Tshisumpa made his presence felt in the paint as he added a career-high five blocks to his resume. Tshisumpa now has 14 blocks on the year.
Up next, the Sun Devils return to Tempe to host WAC-member New Mexico State (7-2), Saturday December 17 at 6 p.m. MT. Arizona State leads the all-time series record between the two programs, 35-34.
