Hockey Returns Home For Two vs. RPIHockey Returns Home For Two vs. RPI
TEMPE, Ariz. – After 10 days on the road, the Sun Devil Hockey team returns home for a four-game stretch beginning with back-to-back meetings with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute starting Friday at Oceanside Ice Arena. The opening game on Black Friday will be a black out game and streamed live on Twitter via the Pac-12 Network.

For the first time this season, ASU (2-11-0) meets a familiar opponent, as the Devils and Engineers (2-11-1) met twice in Troy, New York in 2015-16. RPI held the upper hand by sweeping the series by a combined score of 9-2.

"We are really happy about being home for a few weeks," said head coach Greg Powers. "This is kind of our first true home stand of sorts with playing the next 4 games all in Tempe and we are looking forward to it. RPI is a very good program and we are thankful that they are coming in on Thanksgiving weekend to play us. Obviously, success against a program of their caliber would be a huge building block for our young program."

The Engineers arrive in Tempe following a one-game match-up with the University of New Hampshire, where they were shutout 5-0 by the Wildcats. Less than two weeks ago, the Devils rallied from a two-goal deficit late in the third period to defeat New Hampshire in overtime in Durham.

In the East Coast Conference, RPI holds a 1-5-0 record with a victory over Brown University, who ASU will meet in game one of the Desert Hockey Classic just over a month from now. Rensselaer is currently on a six-game losing streak while being outscored 23-7 during that span.

They're led by sophomore forward Evan Tironese and senior forward Riley Bourbonnais. Tironese paces the Engineers in points with 14 (3G, 11A) while Bourbonnais returns as the leading scorer from 2015-16 with a team-high six goals along with six assists this season.

Graduate senior Robbie Baillargeon continues to pace the Devils with six goals and three assists this season. Freshman Tyler Busch got back on the scoresheet, as he tallied a goal and two assists during the road trip.

From the blue line, freshman defensemen Brinson Pasichnuk and Jakob Stridsberg each also totaled two goals during the four-game stretch as well.

The Sun Devils leading scorer from 2015-16, sophomore forward Jordan Masters, returned to the fold while away and totaled two goals and an assist.

Puck drop for game one is set for 7:05 p.m. at Oceanside on Friday, and will be streamed live on Twitter via the Pac-12 Network. Saturday will begin at 5 p.m.
