GREENSBORO, N.C. – After a strong start to the season nearly a month ago, the Sun Devils put forth an equally strong effort at the East Regional Qualifier, the second of three regular season competitions this year.

In order for the entire team to have race experience, the four team members who did not compete in Naperville in September competed in today's race.

Amy Darlington was the top Sun Devil finisher in sixth, followed closely by Sarah Quintero in eighth. Lillie Robinson finished 18th while Kendal Williams crossed the finish line 22nd. As a team, ASU finished second overall.

Had the team not already qualified for the National Championship next month, a top-two team finish would've qualified them for the postseason race on Nov. 5 in New Orleans, La.

"This is a very big achievement for these girls today," said head coach Cliff English. "Now the entire team has had experience in the draft-legal format of racing. They've put in a hard six weeks of preparation for this and the hard work has paid off. I know they're all very excited and looking forward to their next opportunity to race."

After nearly a month away from competition, the Sun Devils return to Tempe for a short few days before competing next Saturday, Oct. 8 at the West Regional Qualifier in Berkeley, Calif. The short trip will be a welcome change for the team that will have traveled nearly 8000 miles round-trip for two competitions by the time they return home tomorrow.
