Tempe, Ariz- Arizona State softball remains unbeaten in fall play following an impressive outing against Scottsdale Community College Wednesday night at Farrington Stadium.

The Sun Devils were powered by junior right hander Brenna Macha, who held the Artichokes scoreless in four innings of work. Macha began the game with five-consecutive strikeouts before allowing a two-out base runner in the second. The Mesa, Ariz., native left the game with nine strikeouts after allowing just two hits, two walks, and no runs.

"She has worked her tail off," said Ford of Macha. "I really love working with her. she is a student of the game and I have been really impressed with her maturity and understanding of what hitters are looking to do. She has been working really hard on her rythm and I thin her velocity has also increased."

ASU was led at the plate by  junior Nichole Chilson who reached safely in all three of her plate appearances. The outfielder from Menifee, Calif., connected on a single and a double in the first and third innings before adding a long fly in fourth to finish the game with six RBI and 14 total bases.

"I think we are feeling good as a team. I know there is a lot left to do, but the thing I saw tonight was them coming together. That is really what you want to see from a coaching perspective. All of the other technichal stuff is going to fall into place when we come together. We could really see and feel that happening tonight."

The Sun Devils will be back in action on Saturday as they will host Mesa Community College at noon. Following Saturday's contest, the Sun Devils will enjoy a week off before hosting Yavapai College and South Mountain College on Saturday Nov. 5. On doubleheader on Saturday, November 5th the ASU softball team is partnering with St. Mary's Food Bank to host a canned food drive. Fans are encouraged to bring canned good to be donated during the game.
