TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil wrestling has planned an action-packed weekend featuring an alumni reunion, a coaching clinic, and the main event, the team's annual Maroon & Gold Intrasquad.
The Maroon & Gold preliminaries will be held Friday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. at the Riches Wrestling Complex (391 S Rural Rd. Tempe, AZ 85281) while the finals will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena (600 E Veterans Way. Tempe, AZ 85281). Admission for both events is free to the public.
Prior to Saturday's intrasquad finals, there will be a social from 5:30-7 p.m. at the arboretum next to Wells Fargo Arena, open to alumni, friends, and clinic participants.
In addition to the reunion and intrasquad is a coaching clinic including a technique session, rules clinic, and classroom session. For more information on the clinic, contact assistant coach Lee Pritts at (480) 965-3596 or Lee.pritts@asu.edu.
This weekend will be the first look for fans to see this season's squad that includes Zahid and Anthony Valencia, three returning NCAA championships competitors, and recent star transfers, Ali Naser and Jason Tsirtsis.

The 2016-17 Sun Devil wrestling season will prove to be one of the most exciting in recent history, below are several storylines to look out for as the start of the season nears.
•The highly touted Valencia brothers - Zahid and Anthony - look for their first ASU action after redshirting last season.
•Fellow members of D1CollegeWrestling.Net's No.1 recruiting class, the three Josh's - Kramer, Maruca, and Shields - also look to compete for their first collegiate appearances this year.
•Transfers Ali Naser, the only collegiate wrestler to beat two Olympians (Coleman Scott and Sam Hazewinkel) and 2014 NCAA Champion Jason Tsirtsis (Northwestern) join the Sun Devils this season.
•The Sun Devils graduated three and return three - Dalton Brady, Robbie Mathers, and Tanner Hall - who competed at 2016 NCAA championships.
•The coaches welcome three-time Canadian Olympian Haislan Garcia to the staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the year.
•Four Sun Devils - Hall (No. 6, Heavyweight), Z. Valencia (No. 13, 184), Brady (No. 16, 133), and Christian Pagdilao (No. 17, 149) were named to The Open Mat's NCAA DI Wrestling preseason top 20 in their respective weight classes.
•Maddie Schossow (Iowa '15) joins the team as Director of Operations while recent grad Matt Kraus will aid the team as Undergraduate Assistant Coach. Madi Davies, daughter of All-American and captain of the 1988 NCAA championship team, will also serve the team as Student Assistant Director of Operations.
•ASU hosts two of WIN Magazine's top 10 teams this season including No. 4 Ohio State (Nov. 19) and No. 10 Illinois (Jan. 29), as well as No. 26 North Carolina (Jan. 20). The Sun Devils also travel to No. 11 Stanford (Jan. 22) and No. 17 Iowa State (Jan. 6) for duals this season and return to Stanford for the 2017 Pac-12 championships.
