SCOUTING UTAH

Most recently, the teams competed at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational and the Intermountain Shootout in Colorado. The men finished second and the women finished fifth at FGCU, led by Jack Burton who won the 100 and 200-breast titles and Stina Colleou who took third in the 100-breast.

The Utah women defeated Oregon State, 157-96, in late September behind impressive performances from Jordan Anderson and Colleou who each won two events apiece. As a team, the Utes won 10 events in the meet.

SCOUTING BYU

BYU most recently competed at the Intermountain Shootout, defeating Utah, Air Force, and Colorado Mesa. Payton Sorenson was one of the Cougars' top finishers, currently ranked third in the country in the 50-yard freestyle.

In the team's regular season home opener, Utah won 11 of 15 relays against BYU. The women also competed against Oregon State in Salt Lake City at the end of September, defeating the Beavers, 178-83.

LAST TIME OUT

The Sun Devils had their first chance to swim in a competition-style meet in the team's annual Maroon & Gold Intrasquad on Oct. 7. The team boasted impressive performances from both the young as well as more seasoned student-athletes in the early October meet.

Senior Richard Bohus and graduate student Thibaut Capitaine put up NCAA Championship "B" cuts in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke, posting times of 48.24 and 55.33. Bohus also missed the "B" cut in the 50-yard freestyle by just one-hundredth of a second.

Freshman Cameron Craig also impressed head coach Bob Bowman, swimming in an unprecedented five different events. Craig touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, two of his three individual events, as well as helping the Gold 200-medley and Gold-A 400-freestyle teams finish first.

On the women's side, Rio Olympian Kat Simonovic and co-captain Alysha Bush both posted impressive wins. Simonovic took the 200-yard freestyle win while Bush finished first in the 100-yard freestyle. Freshman Chloe Isleta also finished first in both her individual races, in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard backstroke.

Overall, the program showed promise for the future as freshmen won 10 of 18 individual events at the intrasquad.
